Event and Call for Artists!
The University of Lethbridge will be hosting an afternoon of art and music at the U of L’s Coutts Centre near Nanton. Titled En Plein Air, the event happens Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 1 – 5 pm.
We invite visual artists to spend an afternoon in the gorgeous gardens sketching and painting. We want to show off the lovely property that Jim Coutts developed and create an exhibition of images from a summer day on the prairies.
Artists who participate in the event on August 24 can then have their work shown in an exhibition at the U of L’s Penny Building. The exhibition will open October 4, 2014. To register or get more information contact: email U of L Alumni (alumniulethca) or phone 403.317.2825.
The Aug 24th event also includes a hands-on art making activity for all ages and a jazz concert. The public will be invited to attend the concert, try the art activity, and to meet and observe artists at work.
At the event and exhibition, artists can give their contact information to promote their work or if people are interested in contacting them to buy their artwork.
Artists should bring all their own materials and any other items necessary for their work (such as chairs or easels). As well, coffee and cake will be available, but participants are invited to bring a picnic lunch.
